Jim Coleman
Head of Economics
Jim is a highly-experienced economist specialising in local and regional economic development and urban regeneration. He has expertise in a wide range of fields including local/regional economic competitiveness, labour markets and skills development, business and sector development, enterprise and SME support, inward investment, poverty alleviation and social enterprise. Key areas of his work involve economic strategy development and implementation planning at various spatial levels, economic visioning for places, sector/industrial strategies, economic impact assessment, economic programme design and evaluation, and area-based economic assessment.
Jim previously headed up the London office of Regeneris Consulting and also spent significant time with EDAW plc (now AECOM) and DTZ. Prior to this, he was a lecturer in the Economics Department of Durham University. Jim is currently a Visiting Professor in the School of Architecture and the Built Environment, University of Westminster and is also an Honorary Senior Research Associate at the Bartlett School of Planning, University College London. He was previously a member of the CABE Expert Panel on Strategic Urban Design.
