Chicago Spire Client Representation

The Chicago Spire is a 2000ft tall luxury residential building in downtown Chicago along the famous Lake Shore Drive. When complete it will be the tallest building in North America and one of the tallest in the world. The project is aimed at a specific segment of the market in the United States – individually designed super luxury high rise with no two units being the same.
To do so required the assembly of a world leading team of professionals under the design leadership of world leading architect / engineer Santiago Calatrava.

In July 2006 Shelbourne Development had recently established its offices in Chicago and comprised of only a few employees when Happold Consulting was asked to assist them to enhance and grow their organisation in parallel with the development of the Chicago Spire. Our response was to work closely with the developer Shelbourne to devise a strategy that would outsource many of the organisations tasks at the outset and over the project design period combined with building the organisation into one that was substantially able to manage a project through detailed design, marketing and construction.

Happold Consulting effectively established a PMO for Shelbourne Developments Ltd over a two year period with more than 80% of the effort undertaken by Shelbourne employees directly at the end of the two year period.
